NEWERA - Y2K problems
Posted in 1999
Hi, For everyones information... The Informix web site states that Newera 3.11 is Y2K ready. However, Newera development on NT4 based workstations is only certified for use with MS C++ 5.0 and NT SP3. Microsoft has stated that NT4 is Y2K compliant with the patches released in SP4. Informix support have said that Newera is probably ok with SP4 but it is unsupported. Therefore, if you have a problem you have to reproduce the problem under the supported platform. Does Informix expect the world to stand still ? Our users require the SP4 changes very soon (SP5 is under development), and we intend to move to Windows 2000 some time after its release. Note that Informix also will not support Newera under Windows 98. After all of this, Newera is still for sale (It is category 3 which is available for sale) and said to be Y2K ready. Newera may be Y2K ready BUT the Informix supported underlying operating system is not. Richard Lewis
