Sounds like a Cobol convention to use 9/9/99 as a default... This would be application specific...Assuming your date fields allow nulls your default is 12/31/1899 - si o no??? To test insert a dummy record into a table with a date column...then retrieve that record. p.s. remember to remove the record after your test.
