Subject: Re: How to enable Database logging
You can change the logging mode from 'no logging' to 'unbuffered logging' via
the ontape command
ontape -s -L 0 -U <dbname>
If you don't really want to perform a backup to tape you can set your TAPEDEV
onconfig parameter to /dev/null, you will need exclusive access to the
database to do this.
As for the logical logs, what does your configuration look like now? When you
enable logging you will write a lot more info to the logical logs (since you
are now logging all of your changes) and you may or may not need additional
log space depending on your load and current log configuration.
Make sure you are dumping your logical logs to /dev/null (not recommended if
you want to fully recover from a failure) or backing them up with onbar or
ontape as they fill or you can hang your system.
A lot of things change when you go from no logging to logging. You can have
long transactions, your default isolation level is different and multi row
updates and deletes will roll back upon failure unlike a non logging database.

Subject: How to enable Database logging
Hi All,
I am configuring Enterprise Replication for DR. For testing, I created a test
database with logging and successfully test replication. But for my live
database where logging is set to 'NO LOGGING', when I tried to enable the
logging using onmonitor it showed: "Cannot change logging mode from 'no
logging'. Use onarchive or ontape.". Can anybody guide me, how can I enable
database unbuffered logging. I cannot spare additional space for logging, as
disk space will be an issue for me.
