RAID Device

We are running Informix 7.10 on AIX. The databases are on raw device created via LVM on RAID devices. We chose to use RAID for not have to worry about media failure and down time to do a recovery. Can we totally trust RAID for no media failure therefore not doing continuous log backup ? Also what about Informix data consistency failure (data corruption) ? has anyone experienced this and what's the statistics on how often it occurs ? The bottom line question is For RAID Device, Do We Still Need to Run Full Archive Plus Continuous Log BackUp ? The system is OLTP and cannot afford to loose any data. Thanks for any response. Diana
