Database logging and OnBar

Plaform,
SCO Unixware 7.1.0 with all necessary patches.
Informix IDS 7.30.UC2.1
I have a database that was originally created with unbuffered logging.
I used OnBar to back it up and then used onmonitor to change its
logging mode to "no logging" since I was doing some large data
loads.
Now I am trying to turn "unbuffered logging" on again. I did an
onbar -b -F and the tried to use onmonitor to turning logging onand received a message "Cannot change logging mode from 'no logging'.
Use onarchive or ontable."
I also tried doing level 0 backup on all the dbspaces and then
tried to change logging modes using onmonitor with the same
error as above.
What am I missing ?
Thanks
Peter

Edit $ONCONFIG and set TAPEDEV to /dev/null. Then do
ontape -s -U <mydatabase name>
Probably a user is accessing the database. You need exclusive access.

try backing up using ontape instead and you can switch the logging mode
with just an additional switch at the same time your backing up.

You must use the ondblog utility to queue/register your request, then use
onbar -b -F (or a normal backup without -F), which will then actuallyswitch your logging mode.

To use onbar to change your logging statust to unbuffered, you have to
do the following :
ondblog unbuf <dbname> # This tell Informix that you want to change
logging status
onbar -b -F # Actually changes the loggingstatus
Note : The ondblog command will take an exclusive lock on the database,
releasing it only after the onbar command completes.

Has anybody used this SQL.REQUEST spreadsheet function? I'm trying to set up a query in an Excel spreadsheet to use my ODBC (Informix 3.30 32bit) connection (to IDS 7.30 on SCO) and return data into cells. I've gotten some data to return, but what I expect and what it returns are two and something 3,4,5 etc. different things. If anybody can give me some pointers I'd appreciate it. Joe jlk62@aol.com
