Article submissions for my on-line magazine
Posted in 1997
When the internet first began ( yawn ) it was intended as a place for sharing of ideas, and information. Hopefully this idea is not lost, and I am trying to keep it alive. My efforts of late are an on-line magazine, at my homepage: http://www.mindspring.com/~tschaefe The March issue will be focusing on "Management in Data Processing", and I'm looking for articles from YOU! Don't be shy. I know some of you don't necessarily care for my irreverence here in c.d.i. but I think diversity is essential to any good discussion, and even if I'm wrong occasionally. :-) I'm trying to improve every day. One of the things that's really important in this business is allowing ourselves the opportunity to risk being right or wrong. After you experience it on a global level lots of other things in life seem quite trivial. :-) Our data processing business here in the states seems to be getting less tolerant of diversity and human being-ness. Managers seem to be less able to understand the critical issues facing DP, to the point where cartoons such as Dilbert are enjoying HUGE success. Stuffed Dogberts and Dilberts are in the book store. Issues facing this business are not particular to the Informix crowd. As informix software users, we rub shoulders with other vendors' software more often than not. Change seems to be the only constant anymore. If you are interested in submitting an article I would be most appreciative. Submit it in HTML, and consider it ready to publish as I will not edit it. Your article can be irreverent, or technical, and boldly go where few have gone. You don't have to agree with me, or anything I say, but I would be willing to bet a lot of people are interested in what <YOU> think. Amazingly, I've received more interest in my site in the past two months it has featured the on-line magazine than ALL of last year. And the only place I mentioned it was HERE in c.d.i.! Last year I think I topped out at 1400 people showing up for the whole year. In January 1997 alone the response was over 2200, and this month over 1400 have shown up. Really amazing! I am truly humbled. I hope to hear from you. We often wait for the other guy/gal to just do it. Well? Start writing!
