First of all, understand that this configuration is not supported. However,
you can get it to work. The main thing is to set up you tape params in the
config file so that your entire archive can be done to a single "device". To
do this, set your tape size sufficiently large.
The reason for this is that if you should require a second device (because
ontape thinks you've filled up the first device), ontape will first read the
header from the tape to be sure you are not trying to write over the first
tape. It will encounter an error when trying to read then rewind the pipe.
