You are correct in that. Of course one of our local Informix shops also offshores some of its work so no comfort there. Still the offshoring has been going on for a decade and we have Indian, Russian, and other firms competing for business here and still there is plenty to go around. Many of the local firms no longer offshore critical work due to export restrictions, for example Boeing, or because they've been burned by the low quality of what has come back. -- Daniel A. But if you were Mr Gandhi in Bangalore looking to set up an off-shoring business, would you rather focus on the mass market (like Oracle) or a specialist market (like Informix)? I think pro-rata, Oracle shops are at much more risk than IDS shops, especially if you factor in that Oracle shops have more DBAs than IDS shops. -- Bye now, Obnoxio "I'm astonished anyone pays real money for this crap." -- Cosmo -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by OpenProtect(http://www.openprotect.com), and is believed to be clean.

A decade ago they tried that. So have the Russians and the Chinese. Interesting fact ... India is now losing business to the Chinese who offshore the work themselves to Vietnam. And even with that ... there are jobs to go around. The bigger the pie the more slices. -- Daniel A.
