Hi, I will install IDS 12.10 or IDS 11.70 on Red Hat Linux and I would like to setup the DB with Bulgarian characters. What locale should I use? Thanks, Vasilis
Hi, Are you required to handle cyrillic data "България"(wiki)? Closes single byte locale what i found is ru_ru.1251 Multibyte UTF-8 ru_ru.57372 hmm.. if you install Informix and type #glfiles it will create list of informix locales lc11.txt and you can pick there. Can't say what locale is best for you, can't find Bulgaria from lc11.txt. What is the locale of your computer?
Hi Thanks for the info. I will probubly use ru_ru.1251. The DB server is not yet installed. How can I find a Linux server locale? Thanks, Vasilis
Hi, If you want to use Bulgarian locales for informix 11.70 or 12.10 you can use: bg_bg.8859-5 - for UNIX/Linux Cyrillic; bg_bg.cp1251 - for WINDOWS Cyrillic; bg_bg.MIK - for DOS Cyrillic; bg_bg.UTF-8 - for UTF code set coversion; All these code set conversion you can find in "Informix Language Supplement" (ILS) 3.50.MC7. You must download this package and install Cyrillic code set conversion files. After that you can set LOCALE variables and create database with necessary Linux locale - may be: DB_LOCALE=bg_bg.8859-5, CLIENT_LOCALE=bg_bg.8859-5 or bg_bg.cp1251. It depends on client application. P.S. Please don't use ru_ru.xxxxx for the Bulgarian language and code set conversion ;-)
