Remember: the :issue is one of pushing db info to the WEB vs. pulling data from the :db via the WEB. The nature of Web access (to date, anyway) has been one :of :consumer-driven information distribution (i.e. by browsing, I am :*asking* for the info). If I want the most up-to-date info, why should :I not be going directly to the source, rather than some "information :middleman" (which is what a push, in this case, winds up being). Well Dave, I have talked to several who are the "source" and want to do this. One major advantage is the ease of finding and connecting to the service. When I look at the web page of some stock exchange I would like to be able to have it feed mee the transaction data continously. There are many other applications like this as well and completely new once will surely be made up. The data feed may not even be web data (http) but a direct feed using a java applet or something like that. You should look forward to the Illustra/Universal Server databases beeing major parts of services like this.
