In my experience and opinion, it can be made to work but is very flaky - an
area where competitiors such as SQL Server, Oracle and even DB2 UDB are far
superior.
Common problems , again in my experience, are:
forgetting to copy the ixbar and onconfg files from the primary server
specifying the wrong values for OB2APPNAME and OB2BARLIST
failing to have the live server defined on the DR box
