It's not entirely clear whether you want the process to write an "unload" type file or to write directly into another database or file structure. > What I need is any suggestions for a language/development tool within Without being to sure of the above I would really go for Informix-4GL. It might lack Windows-type sex appeal, but I've never found something I couldn't write in 4GL (from an application point of view). I've scrolled through the other replies you've had (one of the "advantages" of an erratic 'net feed!) and I can't comment on isqlperl, but Uniface for a batch process sounds like swatting a fly with an open bottle of mayonnaise. (If you see the parallel .... :) ) Just as a for instance, we recently wrote a medical aid cheque run in 4GL, which the prime contractor swore couldn't be done in a 4GL, and it ran faster than their previous COBOL version. So there ! :) > Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry the advice isn't more original! billy.wheeler@digitec.co.za --- . SPEED 1.40 [NR] .
