I haven't much experience with oracle but maybe you use the data transformation services of Sql Server... Yes I know it may sounds bizarre but DTS just does that connect to a source db to transfer information to a target db. I haven't used this tool to transfer an entire system but if you have odbc driver to connect to oracle and informix then DTS try to guess the types but it is not perfect so you have to review what the whole process is doing. If the source db is big then the previous approach might not be well suited. J.
