Thank you for your answer.
I have upgrated to gcc 3.3.2.
Now, c4gl works better, but one problem remains:
not all the 4gl files can be compiled.
I get errors like:
# c4gl -c myfile.4gl
c4gl: line 458: 5517 Bus error $I4GLC4 -D -L $LEVEL -o $FBASE.c
This error occurs only if the length of the file name is different from 5, 9
or 13 characters; i.e., if I copy myfile.4gl to a.4gl, c4gl -c a.4gl works.
(Copying to a0000.4gl or a00000000.4gl works too, but for example c4gl -c
a0.4gl fails.)
Any idea ?
Note: for an unknown reason, c4gl only works if I execute it through
/bin/bash.
Thank you,
Philippe Chantry

You still need the -fwritable-strings option.
I normally do that by setting INFORMIXC="gcc -fwritable-strings -m64"
in the environment.

Intriguing.

As opposed to which alternative shells? If you are thinking 'C
Shell', then of course it won't work - it is a Bourne/Korn/POSIX/Bash
script.
