INFORMIX-4GL 4.0 Upgrade Problem resolution
Posted in 1991
Thanks to one and all who responded with suggestions on how to solve the problem I had with a column name that was a reserved name. It was very encouraging to get responses with many ideas from different people. To resolve this problem I used the following SQL statement to change the table names in the appropriate systems catalogs (for both a test database and a production database). UPDATE syscolumns SET colname = "media_length" WHERE colname = "length" AND tabid = (SELECT tabid from systables WHERE tabname = "media"); A recompile of global definitions containing the revised names and a recompile of the 4GL programs then allowed the programs to correctly function.
