Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Dray reported that after adding a second network card to a Windows XP Informix server, connections from hosts in the other IP range took about 25 seconds. Clive Eisen said forward and reverse DNS had not been set up for the new NIC. Zarulja described a VPN setup with a 30-second delay connecting to the remote server. No confirmed fix.

We added another lan card on the computer(informix server), but now we have
slower connection on database! Each card has it own ip range! On a local
server connection on the database is ok(1,2 seconds),but when some host tray
to connect to database(from another ip range then local) he need app. 25
seconds!
How to solve this?
OS is Win Xp Pro

You have not set up forward and/or reverse dns for the new nic

Situations:
Location 1: Dislocated office1 --> Win XP Pro with installed Informix,
XP Pro in workgroup - for example(name): Dislo_Server1...
2 Local area connections:
1 - on NIC: Static IP
2 - PPPoE for VPN over ADSL, ADSL connection box in bridge mode (always
same IP ADDRESS (STATIC)- different range from NIC)
Location 2: Central Managment office --> master Informix server, static
route in gateway for Dislo_Server1 (route to static IP of NIC)
________________________________________________________________________________
So we have 2 locations: Central Managment Office and dislocated office1
Connection from Dislocated Office1 (where is this computer
Dislo_server1) connection on Central Managment Office(master informix
server)--> ok, time delay: 1-5 sec, working
Any host computer in Dislocated Office1 which is connected to this
computer Dislo_Server1 can also connect on master informix server in a
Central Management Office without problem, same time delay
BUT:
When a Master informix server (or any computer which is in a Central
Managmet office) try to connect only on a database on Dislo_Server1 - it
takes: 30sec
AND
When you try to connect with windows explorer on a Dislo_Server1 you get
shared folders in 5 sec...
Any suggestions why?
With Best Regards
Zarulja
