We have many many sites running 64-bit IDS...my most recent
experience was with 7.30.FC3X5 on a V2250 running HP-UX 11.00.
In order to access more than 2GB of shared memory, you need a
version no later than 7.30.FC7 or you need a patch (like
7.30.FC3X5).
There is no oncockpit, onperf or IECC. onpload is 64-bit, but ipload
is 32-bit (which means you can use it, but you have to use a
network connection). If you have access to the 32-bit tools, you
can use them as long as they can use network connections. I
doubt they're officially supported beyond HPL, however. In lieu of
IECC, you can use ROM.
If you don't need the extra shared memory, my personal
recommendation is to stick with the 32-bit version. At least until
the 64-bit tools are available. It's a rough choice, because it was
nice to have 8GB of shared memory, but it cost me having onperf
and oncockpit.
