Raw device specification

Thanks for help guys regarding the question on Raw device vs Cook device. Thankfully, we are getting a new hardisk soon, so I would be able to use it as a raw device. I wondering is there any difference of partitioning it into 8 partition each of 1 GB size so that I put different dbspaces into each partition OR or one big partition and use offset for each dbspace ? Any tips on creating raw device ? I am currently running on AlphaServer 1200 on Digital Unix 4.0d, and mirroring of hardisks. Thanks in advance !
