Select with sequence from view generates assert failure; v 10.0 and 9.4
Posted in 2006
A poster reported that selecting a sequence's NEXTVAL from a view (e.g. a 'dual'-style view over systables) crashes the server with an assertion failure/access violation in the view-folding code (walkvexpr/processview), seen on IDS 10.00.TC3TL and 9.40.TC2E1. An IBM responder identified it as known bug 174914 ("SELECTING FROM A SEQUENCE IN A VIEW CAUSES ASSERTION FAILURE"), fixed in 9.40.UC8, advising contact with tech support for the patch/upgrade. The rest of the thread argued about reporting bugs without a support contract, and the poster noted it was still listed as open for 10.00.xC4.

Bye now,
Obnoxio
Information within this post contains forward looking statements within
the meaning of Section 27A of the Securities Act of 1933 and Section 21B
of the S E C Act of 1934. Statements that involve discussions with respect
to projections of future events are not statements of historical fact and
may be forward looking statements. Don't rely on them to make a decision.
The poster is not a reporting company registered under the Exchange Act of
1934.
I have received a life peerage from Her Majesty, who is not an officer,
minister or affiliate Labour party member.
I intend to recover my loan now, which could cause the parliamentary
majority to go down, resulting in losses for you. Today's Labour party
has: an accumulated deficit and a reliance on loans from officers and
affiliates to pay expenses. It is not an operating political party. The
party is going to need financing to continue as a going concern. A failure
to finance could cause the party to go out of business. This report shall
not be construed as any kind of investment advice or solicitation. You can
lose all your money by investing in this party.
Hi,

174914 - SELECTING FROM A SEQUENCE IN A VIEW CAUSES ASSERTION FAILURE
This is fixed in 9.40.UC8. Contact tech-support to upgrade/get a patch.
Thanks,
Nita.

For one, it's not my problem. I just make sure stack trace is searchible by google. For two, the original guy reported it on v.10. As of 10.00.xC4 it's in the list of known bugs yet.
