Installing 9.3 on Win2k

I have
9.21HC5 installed on a HP11 box that is our production instance (have
3 DB's within 1 instance) and have SDK2.7TC3 installed on my Win2k laptop
for connectivity and that all works fine. I downloaded the 9.3 for Win2k
from the IIUG site and want to install it on my laptop so I can do
development work without having connectivity back to the Unix box.
It appeared to install OK, but the service won't start. It gives me the
following error in the security log:
ids93smprod : oninit: DBSERVERNAME 'ids93smprod' not in sqlhosts file or
sqlhosts file contents are damaged.
What do I need to do to get it running on my laptop without messing up my
connectivity to the Unix box? Do I need to do something in SetNet32 or the
registry?
Any help appreciated,
Randy
Do you
have 'ids93smpprod' in your sqlhosts file? It you do, then the problem
might have related to a service port assigned to two database servers. The
engine got confused. Here are my suggestions to get around this issue.
1. Assign a port number and service name to that port in the
../../drivers/etc/services.
2. Add a new entry in the sqlhosts file that contains new host name for the
laptop.
3. Initialize the engine.
3. Create a new connection profile in the SetNet32 that contains new server
name, service name or port ID.
Good luck,
James
