Are there any replacements for C-ISAM?

It seems that due to the way semaphores are implemented on some versions of UNIX, the system reponse time exponentially decays with large numbers of users. Remember that each semop is a system call -- wouldn't it be nice if there was a replacement for this mechanism that operates in user space? -- Paul Gillingwater, paul@actrix.gen.nz
