Hi there, I'm trying to connect to a database through Informix 7.30.tc3-1 for Windows NT 4. I'm using a Pentium 233 MMX 64Mb with 128 of virtual memory. Everytime I try to connect, the error message is displayed after 15 minutes of use. The system says I " Memory Allocation Failed" . The database parameters are filled with the default values. I don't know what to do because I'm a recent Informix user. I would apreciate some help. Thanks anyway. Marco Parente Sao Carlos - Brazil

Your server needs to expand the Virtual segment but the ONCONFIG file
parameter SHMTOTAL, in combination with SHMADD, will not permit the
virtual segment to expand any further. Running onstat -g seg after the
server has been up a while will show the size of the current virtual
segment. Add at least one value of SHMADD to that figure and replace
the value of SHMVIRTSIZE. Also you may have to expand the value of
SHMTOTAL (you can use zero to mean UNLIMITED).

Using the Setnet32 have a look at the DBDATE setting. This will have a slash just remove it and then try connecting again using the ILOGIN demo. Once you are successful, change the DBDATE parameter again with the slash. Hope this helps - I had a similar problem.
