Online Workgroup Server on SCO 5.0.4 with onipcshm
Answered: red (solid confidence) — Art Kagel says shared memory should work on all UNIX platforms and asks for the ONCONFIG/sqlhosts details to diagnose the -25580 network error, but no follow-up with those details (or a fix) appears in the archive.

Hi,
while trying out the Online Workgroup Server on a Compaq SCO 5.04
(128 MB, separate raw disk for database) :
(Informix 1 month trial offer, we allready use SE extensively and would like
a performance boost)
I can oninit the database and use it with my existing ESQL/C-programs.
when using NETTYPE ontlitcp
Performance is low, though. I would like to try with shared memory for the
local programs.
But, according to the release notes this (apart from ontlispx) is the only
supported protocol.
When I try to oninit with NETT YPE onipcshm, I get an error stating there is
a network error
Fatal error in initializing ASF with 'ASF_INIT_DATA' flags; asfcode = '-
25580'.-25580 System error occurred in network function.
Do I have to start from scratch with a reconfiguration of the root dbspace ?
Or is interprocess communication just not supported on SCO for the workgroup
server.

FAIK shared memory should work on ALL UNIX platforms. Post your
ONCONFIG file and the appropriate lines from sqlhosts.
