ODBC and F*&king IBM :-)

I've just uninstalled IDS10 from my laptop, now Data Direct and ALL my ODBC connections now work. So re-install IDS10 and the ODBC is still broken and I get an 'Unknown Error Message' driver version 2.90 or -11355 driver version 3.30. [Data Director is fine] However, ODBC connection under DBPing works :-) Anybody got any ideas :-) Paul Watson Tel: +44 1414161772 Mob: +44 7818003457 GO FURTHER with DB2 GET THERE FASTER with Informix. This is yet another HUGE problem in quality we are seeing in IDS 10.0 later releases. I think Neil Truby first made note of assertions on IDS 10 here on CDI way back. I also just heard of a client that moved to 10.0 and had so many issues, that they ported back to, get this, IDS 7.31. Someone should ask whoever is head of the lab or development (Jerry Keesee I believe) WHY is IDS 10.0 suffering from assertion failures and items like this? IBM has been going around the world preaching the stability and quality of IDS 10.0. That seemed to be true in most part until xC4/5 came out. The client that ported back to 7.31 - their response to the bugs were "NOBODY could have tested this crap - these are bugs that were fixed in previous releases!" What this means is that features or fixes were introduced that caused regressions...not good. Anyone? Me. We've got a number of customers on IDS10, and none of then are unhappy with any part of the product. It just runs like it always did, just quicker. My problem is probably Windoze :-) Paul Watson Tel: +44 1414161772 Mob: +44 7818003457 GO FURTHER with DB2 GET THERE FASTER with Informix. Attend the IDUG 2006 European Conference.
