setting up Informix-STAR

hello out there, if anyone of you has successfully set up an Informix Online database-server (V 5.04.UC1) and accesses it from within an application that was written using ESQL/C (V 5.04.UC1) and runs on a different machine (both Sun workstations under SOLARIS; TCP/IP connection) then I would appreciate it, if you could leave me a small note how to successfully proceed. I have installed Informix-Star (V 5.04.UC1) on the machine with the online-server, added a line in /etc/services and started the sqlexecd as root process after defining the right environment variables. But It doesn't work. The error I get when trying to make a remote access is: sqlca.code, after the cursor open, is -404 (Starting the same application from the online machine gives correct results) PS: someone wrote me to look into the file $INFORMIXDIR/release/MACHNOTES But I don't have that file.
