Re: OnLine 6 won't restart

Frank, What appeared in your log before 08:02:07? It looks like the engine was (at least partially) running when it tried to startup again. Is it possible that before 08:02:07 there was an unsuccessful shutdown? I don't know why OnLine would suddenly decide it needed to recreate shared memory. (Recreate versus adding an additional segment.) The log entries beyond the mt_shm_init would appear to be a bug in the recovery. But I'd focus first on what caused the situation to begin with. --Craig (craig@chemistry.utah.edu) } } I have a serious Problem with OnLine 6 running on SCO. } Two days ago the OnLine-System crashed, writing the following } in the logfile: } } 08:02:07 shmget: [EEXIST][17]: key 52564801: shared memory already exists } } 08:02:07 mt_shm_init: can't create resident segment } } } Tue Sep 19 08:02:16 1995 } } 08:02:16 Assert Failed: proc id %d, %s. } 08:02:16 Who: Thread(9, sm_listen, 0, 1) } 08:02:16 Results: OnLine must abort } 08:02:16 Action: Reinitialize shared memory } 08:02:16 See Also: , shmem.11ee8a.0 } } [...useful stuff deleted...]
