Just a bit more info on my 4GL 4.13 problem... 1) DBDATE="DMY2/" 2) when using dates these are always enclosed in quotes, thus: "Select * from foo where foo_date = '",f_date,"'" Still no joy - but thanks to those respondents so far. Oh, PS: Why did Informix change the REPORT structure in 4GL vn 4.15 so that my team and I have to waste a ridiculous amount of time removing/replacing RETURN and PROMPT statements?
