HELP: Interaction Design Student's REQ for informix user experiences

Topics: General Discussion
Hello, I'm Bastiaan Janssen, a student interaction design at the Utrecht school of art, media & technology. At this moment i'm following a course on databases, our teacher gave us the assignment to get as much information on a certain subject. And describe the subject in only 5 pages of text....My subject to describe is "Informix". And our deadline is next thursday.... I've been to the Informix web site, and found a huge pile of company & product info, (in which i'm almost drowning by now....) All the articles i found where written by Informix cooper ate people. But...Since i don't like to have only the "maker's point of view" in my work I'm also looking for some objective information from the people who work with Informix's software. This can be positive, but also criticizing views about the Informix system you are using for managing your data. Some questions i would like to have answered are: -Why did you (or your superiors) choose Informix ? -Which Informix product do you use most. ? -What do you think is the real difference between Informix database software, and other relational database software ? -How about the pricing of their software & knowledge. (quality vs price tag) -Are you satisfied with the possibilities these systems give you to manage your data, or do you think they missed out some important things in designing their software (not too technical please) ? -How do you experience your daily work with Informix ? (I mean in terms of user friendliness, company service, learning, etc. etc.) I would really be grateful, if anybody could help me out a bit. Just a few lines o' reply will do great. All the information i'll get, will be handled very discretely, as is, and only for this assignments' purpose. Thanks in advance, Bas Janssen P.s. Would you be so kind to reply to my school address, I won't have access to the newsgroups tomorrow at school. -- Bastiaan Janssen-------------------------------------------------->bas_j@euronet.nl Hilversum, Holland ----------(more about my study ?)---->www.euronet.nl/users/bas_j/index.html
