bug in check option on remote server view
Posted in 1993
Hi Informixers.
I thing, I've catched a serious bug concerning update and insert
through views under InformixStar. Consider a database on a remote
server. This database holds a table and an updatable view on this
table, guarded by a WITH CHECK OPTION. The script below illustrates
the situation.
- Is this a known bug?
- Are there any suggestions for working around this behaviour?
database db_remote@host_remote;
{ create database on remote remote host }
create table mytable ( col1 int, col2 int, col3 datetime year to second ); { create a table on remote data base }
create view mytableview
as select * from mytable
where col1 > 0
with check option; { create remote view on remote table }
close database;
database db_local@orion;
{ reconnect to the local database on local server }
insert into db_remote@host_remote:mytableview
values (-1,-1,current); { insert into remote view should lead to range constraint
violation because of the `with check option' clause above.
But it does not, a that seems a serious bug to me }
select * from db_remote@host_remote:mytableview; { yields: `No rows found.' which is ok because of the view definition }
select * from db_remote@host_remote:mytable; { yields:
col1 col2 col3
-1 -1 1993-10-13 14:36:34
1 row(s) retrieved.}
Any help would be appreciated.
Heinrich.
