Until then, thanks for your patience. -> ->Walt. Hi, Walt, Now that the (apparently temporary) surge of job postings has subsided, I am less concerned about it. It's nice to know that the Informix job market is alive and well. A few postings from time to time is fine. I was concerned (and I believe this was Jack Parker's concern) that we were about to be inundated with the darn things. I consider this to be primarily a technical forum to discuss Informix issues, problems, work-arounds, etc. *Occasional* side stuff is fine; remember the leap year discussion? My concern was that I might need to wade thru 90% job stuff to find the 10% (and diminishing) of technical stuff. David A Tarbox-Cooper made the analogy to TV: turn it off if you don't like what you see. "Filter it yourself!" were his exact words. Well, to continue the analogy, it is too late to turn off the TV after your kids have already seen the blood-and-gore, or whatever you object to. The advance warnings (i.e., subject lines) are sometimes useless: StarTrek recently had a "violence advisory" before the program, which happened to be an episode involving a love story between Picard and a female science officer. Not one bit of violence in that episode!! Advisories are not the answer; the answer is having the right stuff on network TV: family entertainment. If the so-called artists want to push the blood-and-gore envelope, let them distribute on a cable channel, to which one can choose to subscribe or not. The point I am trying to make is that there are appropriate channels for distributing job adverts. When I am in a technical forum, I do not want to be required to wade thru hundreds of job adverts, even if it only means looking at the subject line, to get to a few dozen technical issues. One final distinction: I agree with Jeffrey D. Hanan that techie to techie job networking *IS* appropriate in this forum. I have made a few such contacts myself. It was the headhunter casting calls that worried me. Whew! I had hoped to be briefer! Sorry 'bout that! Alan +---------------------------+--------------------------------------------+ | R.
