Why, you ask, should such a thing happen? Must you ask? Ok, first you must understand psuedo-closing. In OnLine, when you close a table, it isn't always really closed, since you may want to open it again. So we sort of keep a pointer to it around in shared memory (putting it simply). But from the user's perspective, it is closed. Now if another user comes along and drops that table, it is allowed to occur (since noone else really has it open). However, we have to deal with that psuedo-close floating around out there. So we mark the tblspace as "dead" (thus the 41 flag). A dead table has no physical address, since it has been removed from the database. But it still holds that entry in the shared memory table. at some point soon after, that entry will be removed from the shared memory table. In the meantime, any user who tries to access it (including the one who has it psuedo-closed) will be told that the table does not exist (since it really doesn't anymore). Ok?
