Just drop the Intel and the rest will become clear. :-) I like Intel, but I couldn't eat a whole one..., er..., I mean I wouldn't run a large business on it. Mind you, I wouldn't run a business on NFS either. ;-) Intel is great for PCs and small servers, but then that applies to NT as well doesn't it? I've run Informix (OnLine) side by side on multi-proc Sparc servers and multi-proc Intel "servers" running SCO OpenServer, and both ran fine great. Neither had anything over the other. I paid quite a bit more for the Sparc machine, but then, for me, that's the main difference between running UNIX on Intel vs. RISC. I can get more bang-for-the-buck when running UNIX on Intel. I will say that you should stick with well know peripheral manufacturers when buying SCSI, network, and I/O cards for the Intel platforms. You get what you pay for. This doesn't seem to be a problem with HP, Sun, or IBM. Third party manufacturers don't mess around when selling their wares. I am setting up Informix IDS on UnixWare 7.x. So far so good, and I haven't experienced any performance problems. MoJo Risin -- In article <7u5mea$qet$1@news.xmission.com>, "Mark D.
