Check the documentation. If you are looking at building enterprise database applications with .Net you should definitely look at DevForce from IdeaBlade: www.ideablade.com That is the data and application framework I have used. Unless you *have* to build your own, don't even get started. Buy Devforce and work on the most interesting parts of your application. It is far more advanced than anything you will build and is pretty easy to get started with. They have some of the best documentation I have ever read. (Check out the Concepts Guide.) Most importantly, they catch the most important technical waves that come out of Redmond without being drowned by every MS twitch. There is a free, Express version that includes almost everything except the Business Objects Server. Download and try! Note: for IdeaBlade development you will use the OleDB driver for Informix. You can use the ADO.Net driver in production, if you wish.
