Correct??? } } Correct - in a perfect world. What if the tape with the latest level } 0 archive turns } out to be bad, or gets destroyed in a fire, or any of a hundred other } possibilities? If } you have all the previous level 0, plus all log files since then, you } can restore and } roll forward. It will take a long time, but it would save you from } the bad tape. Yes, I was working from the assumption that the tapes were good. I should have specified that. The Informix ODS Archive and Backup Guide, Version 7.1, p 13-44 says that when restoring a selected dbspace, and gathering the appropriate logical log tapes, that I will need logical log tapes *prior* to my latest level-0 archive. Looks like the doc is incorrect. Thanks for the explanation. Allen
