Of course event though this is under and Apache license, Cloudera has submitted their stuff which will be in future releases. So its not a split, just that it will take some time for Apache's Hadoop to catch up. However, HBase 0.20.1x will run on Cloudera's 0.20.1x release. (Cloudera only releases Hadoop and not HBase) > > > This will, I predict, bite them severely in the arse, if it hasn't > > > already. But you'll never hear about it. There are a lot of companies looking at this. As to money, what's the list price of IDS Enterprise Edition on a dual socket quad core Intel box? Now how many dual socket Quad core boxes with 16-32 GB of memory and tons of cheap SATA disks (JBOD) can you buy for that one server's license? ;-) Forget about the cost of running the racks and racks of machines in the cluster, but just the hardware costs? > Well, that doesn't exactly bolster your case, does it? Sure IBM's BCS will invest in clouds and cloud technology. But IBM will never do a benchmark for IDS unless its a new benchmark and they don't want to try and market DB2 to fill that niche. Of course it would also mean IBM's IM management team ditching the poor brainwashed slobs who only think of DB2 when someone askes about IBM's flagship database. ;-) > So far ahead of the curve, he's up his own arse, you mean? :o) > Naw. Sorry, but that's one of the reasons I left IBM. I'm not in to having things inserted in my anal cavity. Gumby doesn't play that way. I wonder if I should ask some of the heritage Informix folk if they enjoy playing BOHICA! [SNIP] > > Because you clown, suppose I invest the time and energy. (No I'm not going to say where he's sticking the fish head! You can use your own imagination. :-) I would usually say "But hey! What do I know... But after the potential image of a clown having anal sex with a fish, I think I'm going to puke now." -G _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Trusted email with Microsoft's powerful SPAM protection. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/177141664/direct/01/ http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/177141664/direct/01/
