Another On(Tb)Tape Question

Does anyone know if it is possible to run ontape -a with ouput to tape or disk and stack multiple backups of logical logs to that tape or disk? For instance, run ontape -a to back up full log a, then run onatpe -a some time later and back up full log b to the same file. Will ontape overwrite log a or append to the end of log a.
