Appreciation re SPARCWorks and Spamming

I just wanted to express my appreciation to all who assisted me regarding the installation of the C 4.0 compiler. Responses set my mind at ease. I also want to thank the people who reminded me about my lapses in network etiquette. One question: What is the derivation of the term "spam"? Or, what does it have to do with the "mystery meat in a can"? Regards, Sam
