Hi all I hope someone can help, what DB_LOCAL setting to use for English Nigeria Niara currency sign. {Insert into 8bit char.} glfiles gave me some lists that are all in some format. I might have to hack into this to change Euro sign to Niara. Thanks in advance Hannes Visagie U+20A6

I'm not clear what you'd want in such a locale. The U+20A6 NAIRA SIGN could be entered in any locale using UTF-8 as the code set (en_us.utf8, for example). However, if you're thinking it should be in some 8-bit character set, then I think you're in difficulties. Which 8-bit character set standardizes that a particular code point represents the Naira sign? How would your displays know to show a Naira rather than say, a Euro? A GLS locale can do many things, but it cannot change what the display device shows for a particular code point. -- Jonathan Leffler <jonathan.leffler@gmail.com> #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix - v2013.0118 - http://dbi.perl.org "Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused." --089e01681d162eb1e104d9dabe2c
Jonathan Thanks a mil. At least now I know what LOCALE to use. No there is no en_ng.utf8. I have set to en_us.utf8 and busy with export, inport. Our DB will have to change to allow for unicode currency character. Hannes
