ISQL Perform Screen Two Field Lookups

Got a question: A system administrator just asked me if it was possible to lookup on two fields in a perform screen,i.e. both fields (one field is a date field and the other field is a character field) must match in both tables. I immediately thought "composite", but was informed that you can't display a composite field in an ISQL perform screen, hence can't do a lookup? Is there a way around this one? Or do we have some basic concept wrong?
