Informix integration with SQL Server 2005

Hi First just some background info: We have a SQL Server 2000 instance with quite a few DTS tasks that extracts data from Informix and populates data back to Informix. This has always worked fine. Now the problem: We are in the process of migrating to SQL Server 2005. DTS's have been replaced by Sql Server Integration Services (SSIS). All is still well. We can still extract data from our Informix database to Sql Server 2005. To populate data back to Informix you need to use and OLE DB Destination. I tried setting up new OLE DB Connection manager in the "OLE DB Destination" but when you select "Native OLE DB\\\\IBM Informix OLE DB Provider" and click on "Test Connection" it says : Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. The 'Ifxoledbc' provider is not registered on the local machine. I checked the registry and it is registered. I have I-Connect.2.81.TC2 at the moment. Is this a known problem with this version? Will V2.90 solve the problem? Does anyone know of a workable solution, other than what I have already mentioned? Eis E-mail is not necessarily secure or error free as information could arrive late or contain viruses or could be incomplete, intercepted, corrupted, lost or destroyed. It is the responsibility of the named recipient(s) to ensure that E-mails are virus free.
exprt DTS into XML send me across i'll try help you out. i am using same scenarios working excellent for me. -Giri On Thu, May 15, 2008 at 1:02 PM, Erhard Eiselen <eis@tad.co.za> wrote: > Hi > > First just some background info: > We have a SQL Server 2000 instance with quite a few > DTS tasks that extracts data from Informix and populates > data back to Informix. Did your IDS version change? Or did you re-create your databases by any chance? If so, you got to run %INFORMIXDIR%\\\\etc\\\\coledbp.sql against sysmaster database. Counterpart to delete is doledbp.sql. Also, you can try to re-register OLEDB DLL %INFORMIXDIR%\\\\bin:\\\\>regsvr32 /u ifxoledbc.dll (this will un-register the DLL) then you can call "regsvr32 /i ifxoledbc.dll" to register it. -Shesh "Erhard Eiselen" <eis@tad.co.za> Sent by: ids-bounces@iiug.org 15/05/2008 22:32 Please respond to ids@iiug.org To ids@iiug.org cc Subject Informix integration with SQL Server 2005 [12129] Hi First just some background info: We have a SQL Server 2000 instance with quite a few DTS tasks that extracts data from Informix and populates data back to Informix. Thanks everyone for offering advice and help. We eventually got it sorted. It is however important that you must have I-Connect.2.90 installed (2.81 does not work). We did have to have the DSTX filve via a text editor though. For some or other reason the Informix OLE proider won't pick up the tables on the Informix DB. Once again, thanks to all. > -----Original Message----- > From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On > Behalf Of Giri Raju > Sent: 15 May 2008 20:21 > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Informix integration with SQL Server 2005 [12131] > > exprt DTS into XML send me across i'll try help you out. i am > using same > scenarios working excellent for me. > > -Giri > > On Thu, May 15, 2008 at 1:02 PM, Erhard Eiselen > <eis@tad.co.za> wrote: > > > Hi > > > > First just some background info: > > We have a SQL Server 2000 instance with quite a few > > DTS tasks that extracts data from Informix and populates > > data back to Informix.
