Malcolm Weallans noted an IBM PartnerWorld brochure for January to June 2006 still used the DB2 brand and did not mention Informix, and suggested IIUG raise it with IBM. scottishpoet guessed it was printed before the rebranding. DA Morgan and another poster said such mixed messages harm Informix's credibility. No action.

I have just received a brochure from IBM partnerworld with At A Glance
, Enablement and Certification Opportunities for Software Business
Partners for January - June 2006. And, surprise, surprise, it is still
showing the Brand as DB2 as they would have had problems fitting
"Information Management" onto the index tab.
And to add insult to injury there is absolutely nomention of Informix
that I can see.
Maybe the IIUG should take this up with IBM management at the earliest
possible opportunity.
regards
Malcolm
I would guess this was prrofed and at the printers before any decision
to "rebrand" was taken

In response to my statement here that if IBM wanted to keep Informix
from becoming another Pick it would need to make a firm committment I
received an email from the product manager for Informix at IBM.
It is precisely brochures such as the one you have discovered that are
what will kill Informix. Not the product's quality or technology. But
an inability on the part of IBM to make a clear non-ambiguous statement
of fact.
The product manager says one thing ... the brochure clearly doesn't
support the smiling marketer's statement. The customer ... when faced
with a choice ... is going to be responsible and take the safest route
to protecting both their employer and their family's income. It is sad.

Exactly. So then people say to me that IBM is lying to me and just
saying
what I want to hear. And I have no comeback reply to that since they
have the brochure in my face.
