FINAL CALL: User Group reception at IWUC

User Group Reception Invitations for comp.databases.informix/informix-list Cut-Off Date: Friday, June 9, 1995 I have heard from the following people that they wish to attend the User Group reception on Tuesday evening of the Informix conference in July. You should be on this list if you are registered for the full conference and would like to go to the reception, but did not use the discounted registration plan available to user group members: Clem Akins Kerry Appel John Ashmead Catalin Badea Bob Baskett Todd Bernhardt Don Boothby Gary Burnore Ken Chow Keng-Choon Rick Christie Jim Gordon Gregory King Joe Lumbley Darin Melin Calvin Ng Weng-Wah Jack Parker Mike Reed Kerry Sainsbury John "Butch" Stokes I'll let the count run through this Friday, June 9. I haven't made an *official* request to Informix yet that these people be included, but given the number, I'm guessing that it won't be a problem. For those who are joining this thread late, I posted an article earlier asking for replies from members of this forum who want to attend the User Group reception at the July conference, and also from people who want to have a get-together just for net.folks. Details are in the original text, included below. Let me know if you have questions, and especially if you want to be added to the list. Walt. PS: It is my understanding that if you didn't use the user group registration discount, you won't automatically get an invitation even though you may actually be in a user group. If this describes you, contact me or Christine Flores <cflores@informix.com> for more information. PPS: I also have a list for the informal c.d.i/i-l gathering. I'll post that in a separate article. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The original article: As you probably know, one of the receptions on Tuesday of the conference will be for user group members. I'd like to ask Informix if this forum could be considered a user group, at least for the duration of the reception. :-) Before we did this, we'd have to have some idea of the number of people that would be involved since Informix will be footing the bill. If it turned out to be 100's of people, we'd probably have to forget it. I don't think that will be the case, though. If you are going to the full conference and would like a free invitation to the user group reception, send me your name, e-mail address and postal mailing address. We'll assume that if you're reading this message, you participate in this forum, either directly or indirectly. After people have had a chance to respond, I'll report back what the count is and ask Informix what they think. If they say "OK," I'll send the contact info on to them so they can add it to the invitation list. If it works out that CDI/I-L members can go to the user group reception, I don't think that necessarily replaces a net.get-together. We could still do a net-only thing if we wanted to. Speaking of that, I was wondering how many people would miss it if it were held on Sunday, since some people not going to the tutorials might not get in until Monday. I haven't seen anyone say they were taking a count, so I can do that too unless someone is already doing it. When you send me your name and address for the reception, include the earliest evening that you could attend a separate CDI/I-L gathering. To make the count complete, also send me a reply if you can attend only one but not both. FYI, all of the receptions will be held at the same time in the same hotel. I don't suppose there's an official cut-off date for this count, but at some point we'll have to have a relatively firm estimate of how many people are coming, at least for the reception count. So, reply to me as soon as you can. I'll let the count run for a week or two, with maybe a repost in the middle. Let me know if you have any other ideas or questions.
