Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

I have an very old Informix Database running under DOS 5 (only SE and ESQL/C
Runtime). Now I want to convert the database to IDS on Windows NT. Can
anybody tell me how to unload the database to an text-file.
Thanks

Make an SQL script with isql/dbaccess unload commands for each table:
unload to table1.unl select * from table1;
unload to table2.unl select * from table2;...
and execute that script from isql or dbaccess whichever you have
(version dependent). You can also use the dbschema utility to export
the database's schema. Then you can recreate the database in IDS and
use the dbload utility or dbaccess LOAD commands to reload the tables.
Alternatively you can use dbexport/dbimport which automated this
process, but I do not remember if older SE engines included
dbexport/dbimport.
