I've been bitten by one of the infamous Informix Bugs. Bug # 19325, Failure to release an exclusive lock causes error numbers -113, -229, & -261. It also causes your resource requirements to go through the roof, dragging everything that survives to a crawl, and crashing almost every program that attempts to write to a file with a Deadlock Timeout! The only solution I've discovered is to reboot the system which does NOT make my users happy. Informix tells me there are no known work-arounds, but I've found the contributors here to often be more resourceful than Informix Tech Support. Their answer was "It's fixed in 6.0!" - Sure let's trade one set of bugs for another.. Anyway, does anyone have a workaround that I can use in 5.01? Config, Online 5.01 - RDS - HP-UX 9.04 Thanks! ---dave----
