Just simply alter the device names for the Archive Device and Logical Log Device to separate Unix filenames. Once your system backup is safely complete or before your next archive/log backup I suggest you remove the files. If you intend to keep more than one archive/logical log backup file in filestore I suggest you name then using a sequence number/Date as part of the filename. >Or is there a way of stacking Informix backup onto a system backup >tape. I have a shell script that stacks System Data, Informix Logs and Informix Archives on to the same tape. I developed it for a customer of ours, and it works very well. The script runs using cron, so it can be kicked off at any time. Here's the steps it carries out... 1) Check if Informix Online is running and it's status. 2) If it's in "ONLINE" mode it shuts down to "Quiescent". (This is to boot out any people/rogue processes) 3) If it's in "OFFLINE" mode then it loads informix and leaves it in "QUIESCENT" mode. 4) It then check if Informix is in Quiescent Mode. If not the backup aborts. Something must be wrong ??? 5) Backup Logical Logs. 6) Informix Archive. 7) Backup System Data. 8) Put Informix back "Online". 9) Print Log of events If any of the backups fail (6 to 8) the script is designed to abort. If you would like a copy of the script please Email me. It may need some modifications for AIX (Boy... I Hate AIX). The script is currently used on ICL DRS6000 and SCO Unix 3.2v4.2.
