C compiler for ESQLC

Dear Netters, we are still new to writing ESQLC programs, so forgive me if this is a silly question... Is there a way to make ESQL using another C compiler than "cc"? E.g. something like "gcc"? The documentation says something about enviroment variables like INFORMIXCOB, INFORMIXFORTRAN etc. but INFORMIXC is neither documented nor does it work. CC is ignored. We tried to let "gcc" work on the generated .c files, but although we used -lsql -los -lgen and -I$INFORMIXDIR/incl/esql we had no success because of error messages such as ld: Undefined symbol _rdownshift _ggetenv collect: ld returned 2 exit status Any ideas?
