NewEra - pessimistic locking
Posted in 1996
I have an application which has two windows, both afcl tabbed windows with a master Supertable and several detail supertables. I want to use pessimistic locking on both the master supertables. Within the application, there is a requirement that the user is able to add a new record in window 2, in mid-edit of data in the master supertable of window 1. Now, with pessimistic locking, when the user begins the edit in window 1, a cursor is used to apply a lock. When the user switches to window 2, completes the insert and commits, the locking cursor for window 1 is closed. Thus when the user tries to commit the update on window 1, the update fails because the cursor is closed. The cursor is closed because it is not a hold cursor. I believe have no control over this cursor. Do anybody know a way of getting around this problem? Thanks in advance
