DBLANG

When I try to start up one of my version 7.13 Informix environments on an HP 9.04 operating system I get the error: Cannot find message file. Check INFORMIXDIR and DBLANG. I know the INFORMIXDIR is correct, but I don't know what the DBLANG means. I don't have that set in any of my environments that I have checked. Can anyone give me some input on this variable?
