Online 7.1 Data Replication question

Informix Online 7.1 Sun Sparc 20/Solaris 2.4 We are about to put a matched pair of Sparcs into production using the Data Replication facility. I've read the manuals, and it seems fairly straightforward -- has anyone run into any gotchas? Any undocumented "features?" A couple of specific questions: 1) What experiences have folks had using async vs sync replication? The backup machine will be lightly loaded. What sort of performance hit should I expect if we use synchronous replication? 2) How can lost-and-found transactions be analyzed to figure out what was lost? The manual doesn't say -- it just says "If the lost-and-found file appears on the computer running the primary database server after restarting data be aware that a transaction has been lost." Not too helpful. 3) Do I really need to set up a temporary dbspace on the secondary machine?
