In article <35537A28.5A9C@colburn.com>, Colburn <postmaster@colburn.com> writes >I would like to change my sqlhosts setting for local connections from >onsoctcp to onipcshm for performance. Whenever I change it, my users >start to get errors that it cannot find netsrv.iem when utilization is >heavy only (more than 50 users or so). I've had this problem since >OnLine DS 7.X (we now run 9.13). Informix TS suggested putting symbolic >links in /usr/informix and /usr/informix/bin. > netsrv.iem is in $INFORMIXDIR/msg/en_us/0333 but the older tools e.g. 4GL expect it to be in $INFORMIXDIR/msg. I would create a link to it in $INFORMIXDIR/msg... This will mean that the tools can get the description for the error message.. >We had our NETTYPE at 3,600,CPU (too high I know) and still errors when >utilization is high. > >Any ideas? Once you have this link you should be able to find the real error. It may well be a connection timeout problem. If so look at $INFORMIXCONTIME and $INFORMIXCONRETRY enviroment variables.. >Tim Porreca -- David Williams Maintainer of the Informix FAQ Primary site (Beta Version) http://www.smooth1.demon.co.uk Official site http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/faq_top.html I see you standin', Standin' on your own, It's such a lonely place for you, For you to be If you need a shoulder, Or if you need a friend, I'll be here standing, Until the bitter end...
